Starting musically as a heavy metal fan, he soon developed great interest for the guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. He studied their technique and compositions but always intended to create his own style.
Already in his first years as a musician he recorded his songs with his own recording-equipment and played all instruments by himself.
Because of this, many of his songs developed over a long period and finally where performed and released by THB. In 2008 Thomas Hoppler gained the „German Rock and Pop Award“ in the category „Best Guitar Player“.
At the age of fourteen he started playing bass guitar in a local cover-rock-band.
Over the years he played in several bands and always intended to improve his skills as a musician.
The most important step in his musical education was a 4-week-intensive-course
for bassplayers at the Players-School-Of-Music, Clearwater, Florida with personal education in bass-playing by Jeff Berlin.
His musical career began as a drummer in several punk- and rock-bands. Beside this, he always was interested in jazz, fusion, progressive and audio-recording.
In 2005 he first met Thomas Hoppler at a
recording-session. Immediately they recognized their common interests in music and recording-technique.
At this point they foundet the LR-Recording-Studio which was also the origin of THB.

THB is a guitar-rock band formed in 2006 in Lahr, Germany. The band evolved from an recording-studio-project consisting of Thomas Hoppler and Manuel Bräuner.
The two musicians run a recording studio where they also worked on instrumental compositions by Thomas Hoppler. When there was enough material for an album, the bassplayer Peter Vetter joined the band. From that point on, the line-up was complete and the band started rehearsals and live gigs.
In 2009 the debut album „Home“ was released, which was an important milestone in the band-history.
Over the years the band enhanced their capability at improvisation and more and more songs originated from jam-sessions. This progress is now documented and audible on the second album „State Of Mind“, which was released in 2016. The music is blending guitar-rock in the style of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai with many other influences like experimental, fusion, prog-rock and jazz-rock and forms an unique style which is dominated by the melodic and likewise virtuoso guitar played by Thomas Hoppler.
In 2008 THB gained the German Rock and Pop Award in the category
“Best Fusion Jazz-Rock Band”.
